Exploitation of equipment beyond duration of committed support by OEMs often results in non-availability of spares, especially in respect of imported equipment. This along with the prohibitive costs of stocking Life Time Buy spares, necessitates Import Substitution. Indigenous components and parts, so developed in India, are required to qualify stringent Quality standards to conform to the specifications of the parent equipment.
